Saim, Akhlaq shine as Karachi Whites and Lahore Whites win rain-affected matches

PESHAWAR, March 9: Saim Ayub and Muhammad Akhlaq delivered impressive performances as Karachi Region Whites and Lahore Region Whites secured victories in rain-affected fixtures on the third day of the ABS Developers National T20 Cup 2026 at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on Monday.
Karachi Whites defeated Bahawalpur Region by 12 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, while Lahore Whites registered a six-wicket win over Faisalabad Region in a shortened encounter.
Karachi Whites vs Bahawalpur
Karachi Whites were cruising at 78 without loss in nine overs while chasing 186, when rain forced an early end to the match. At that point, Karachi were 12 runs ahead of the DLS par score of 66, sealing their second consecutive victory in the tournament.
The chase was powered by a dominant opening stand between Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal. Saim produced a brilliant unbeaten 53 off 35 balls, smashing seven fours and two sixes, while Fazal remained not out on 25 off 21 balls.
Earlier, Saim also contributed with the ball, taking 2 for 43, including the key wicket of Mohammad Faizan Zafar, who had scored 49 off 33 balls.
Bahawalpur had earlier posted a competitive 185 for 8 in 20 overs, thanks largely to skipper Muhammad Imran, who struck 55 off 35 balls, including five sixes. Mohammad Akram added 25 off 19 balls. For Karachi Whites, Muhammad Umar led the bowling attack with 3 for 27.
Lahore Whites vs Faisalabad
In the second match of the night, Lahore Whites defeated Faisalabad by six wickets with two balls to spare in a rain-curtailed 10-over-a-side contest.
Faisalabad, after multiple rain interruptions, managed 106 for 7 in 10 overs, with Mubasir Khan providing late fireworks with 26 off 10 balls, including three sixes. Mohammad Faizan also chipped in with 21 off 11 balls.
For Lahore Whites, Ahmed Daniyal starred with the ball, claiming 3 for 17 in two overs, while Ubaid Shah took 2 for 25.
Chasing 107, Lahore Whites’ openers Muhammad Akhlaq and Mohammad Faiq laid the foundation with a blistering 74-run opening partnership in just five overs.
Akhlaq scored 48 off 28 balls with eight fours and a six, while Faiq hammered 32 off 13 balls, including three sixes. Lahore experienced a brief middle-order wobble, but captain Aamir Jamal struck the winning runs to seal the victory.
Upcoming Fixtures
On Tuesday, Abbottabad will face Karachi Blues, while Multan will take on Lahore Blues at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
